I remember when I saw my first goal.

The Palace goal wasn't special? Blimey.

'Carlton was put on for tactical reasons. He added something different to the team'

Yep, and it wasn't a goal threat.

Re: Zarate
Zarate only played at Palace because Allardyce's son did his shoulder. He scored a great goal and linked up very well with Noble.
However, we all know Nolan is now back and as captain, so fatso has his preferred man 'in the hole'. Let's hope we're not in a hole in a few weeks time.

Re: Zarate
I don't think being on the bench behind a couple of in form strikers is down the pecking order.

In the situation we were in Saturday, Cole was the better option as we already had a man in behind - Nolan is a poacher and much to my dislike of him, if not for a knat's cock decision it would have worked.

Zarate will play his part - what's most impressive is that now have lots of options in various positions, competition for places can only be a good thing.

In those circumstances and considering the players on the pitch I considered it to be the right call, yes.I have absolutely no issue with at the end of the game when losing to getting the ball in the area.

74 - he won't be at Upton Park anytime soon, that I can guarantee.

Cole has not scored a decisive goal since he had his break at the start of last season.

He will play a big part on our season. Long way to go.

Ok.

'Horses for courses'

How on earth do you come up with that? You think Cole is a better option when you're desperate for a goal?

Well done you. Now, back to the thread.

Yep, point scoring.

No, I was stating my opinion. I still don't get the point you are trying to make? Or is it score??

Ah, you were just stating the obvious. Got ya.

ED

Why? I said i understood why he did it, even though I didn't agree. You have just repeated that understanding and being happy are two different things, which is exactly what i had said several times.

I'm really not sure what point you are trying to make, perhaps you'd care to enlighten me?

You are baffling at times, 74.

Re: Zarate
From what I have seen, both Valencia and Sakho are as good if not better than Cole in the Air, so I wasn't sure we need to go down that route. I thought we needed a tad more guile and that hopefully Zarate would have provided that, even if it meant getting other players into better positions to cross the ball for the players in the box.

Indeed, as I have said several times.

I was hoping we’d moved on from that, 74.

Understanding why he did it, and being happy with it, two different things.

Yes it didn't work Ron! He also said we score a lot of goals from set pieces the know-nothing cunt....
